PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:• Support the Southern Westchester BOCES Mission, Values, and Goals in allinstruction, decisions, and actions.• Identify specific student learning challenges; develop, design, and implementdifferentiated lessons and programs to address these challenges.• Prepare student IEPS in collaboration with instructional teams.• Work collaboratively with the site teams to identify needs and support studentsacademically, socially, and emotionally.• Collaborate with related-service providers and school counselors to identify andprovide opportunities for students to explore academic, career, and life goals.• Support students and families throughout the process of transitioning to postsecondarylearning and vocational programs.• Collaborate with colleagues in support of students in their endeavors to engage inall academic coursework and SEL programming.• Communicate with parents/guardians on a regular basis.• Contribute to the planning of student support through the Child Study Teamprocess.• Participate in school community-building activities, clubs, and events.QUALIFICATIONS:• Dual New York State Secondary Special Education Certification, Biologyrequired.• Thorough understanding of Students with Disabilities and the continuum ofservices.• Knowledge of the New York State Science Learning Standards.• Knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Special Education programs.• Minimum of three (3) years of special education teaching experiencepreferred.The Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services, its officers and employees, does not discriminateagainst any individuals, including but not limited to students, employees or applicants on the basis of race, color, nationalorigin, ethnicity, religion, creed, sex, gender (including gender identity and gender expression), sexual orientation, disability,age, citizenship status, marital status, partner status, genetic information, predisposing genetic characteristics, weight,military status or service, political affiliation, or domestic violence victim status.
