PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Project Management: Making sure that all new projects have the appropriate project plans that are submitted in accordance with out PMO guidance for all VOIP projects. Keeping up to date with the status of all projects that are currently underway. Keeping note of any headwinds and making sure proper work around solutions are implemented as needed. Making sure that projects are closed out in a timely manner and all punch lists items have been properly addressed.Service Queue: Working with the help desk to optimize the ticketing system to get the most efficiency out of our engineering resources. Assigning tickets out of the queue to the VOIP engineer based on individual workload and experience level.School District Communications: Developing content and hosting User group meetings. Emailing the districts to inform them about new services the LHRIC will be making available, such as Cisco Emergency Responder. Talking with district technology leaders about strategy, projects, and service challenges. Often these conversations grow out of the VOIP department’s commitment to support the MIT leads in their endeavors.VOIP Service Documentation: Writing and editing service descriptions, SLA agreements and other documentation used by the LHRIC to convey information about VOIP service to school districts.Managing the VOIP team members: Making individual skill assessments. Interviewing prospective job candidates. Coaching and mentoring members of the team through one-on-one sessions and daily team meetings.Vendor Management: Making sure that the LHRIC gets the contracted services that contracted. Referring back to SLA’s and SOW’s as needed to make sure that all contractual items are being enforced. Escalating issues with executives from vendor management teams.Cost Management: Continually working to drive down vendor costs by leveraging the competitive bis process. The overall strategy is to get the services that meet all of our requirements at the best possible price. CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATIONS:Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and five (5) years of experience where the primary function was installing & maintaining local or wide are networks, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.Satisfactory completion of 30 additional college credits may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the work experience. There is no substitution for the three (3) years of supervisory experience.Current/active certification as a Certified Network Engineer, e.g. CNE from Novell or a Microsoft Certified Engineer (MCE), or a Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) may be substituted for six (6) months of the required technical experience.
