You can apply for the exam at: https://exams.westchestergov.com/webexam/PE/listOpenToAllExams.htmThe deadline to apply for the exam is October 7th, 2022Only candidates that have applied and are eligible to take the exam will be considered for an interview.PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist in building and implementing Communications Plans.Maintain oversight of all communications for the district or center as they relate to regional (external/public facing) professional learning events (meetings, workshops, webinars, etc.).Manage PR efforts/campaigns, including newsletters, flyers, and program videos.Write articles that can be accessed by the public through a variety of modalities, such as: print materials, LinkedIn, Facebook, blog, website, newsletters, e-newsletters, etc.Capture images of programs in session using a photojournalistic approach to program promotion, coverage, and storytelling.Act as a liaison, where appropriate, between instructors and program participants.Collaboratively assist the faculty in expressing programs and activities in a way that resonates with partner districts, schools, educators, and a broad audience.Manage content and shared repositories.Leverage email marketing platforms to promote programs regionally.Prepare announcements for events and programs, as well as resources for online sharing.Oversee and manage a video recording studio, including scheduling, preparing users, and all aspects of producing (scripting, casting, recording, editing, and distributing).Lead video production and editing (One Button Studios, Google Meets, and Zoom) for synchronous and asynchronous learning programs.Reviews transcripts/interview scripts and prepares instructors/presenters for video recording, podcasts, and webinars.Prepares, edits and revises presentation slides in support of public programs.Works closely with graphic artists to create and communicate branding and sub-branding.Works 1:1 with educators and experts to produce content videos.Manages website content.Leads communications and virtual course live streaming and asynchronous learning for hybrid and virtual learning.Communicates course descriptions and manages course registrations through an online registration database.Provides just-in-time support for meetings supported with communication technologies including video/audio conferencing (Zoom, Teams, Google Meets, etc.). This includes meeting management and optimizing communication tools.Managed on-site studio.Manages, archives, and edits course and meeting videos for continued/future use.Manages all remote meeting room technology and communicates appropriate use. CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES: Good knowledge of the techniques of preparing, producing and disseminating information to the various media; good knowledge of the techniques and methods used in evaluating the effectiveness of public information and relations program ; good knowledge of the principles and techniques of establishing and maintaining good public relations; ability to use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software; ability to write clearly and concisely; good layout and design skills; ability to work effectively with the public and representatives of mass media; ability to speak effectively in public; ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position; act; resourcefulness; creativity; initiative; imagination; integrity; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of work experience in which the primary function of the position was copywriting or news writing for radio, TV, newspapers, publications, advertising agencies or writing relating directly to the community/public relations ** field.**DEFINITION: Community/public relations is defined as experience acting as a liaison with public officials, corporations, other agencies, new media, and/or the public, which included responsibility for planning, preparing, and distributing written materials designed to promote understanding or general knowledge about activities, services, policies, or objectives.SUBSTITUTION: A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations or a Master’s Degree may be substituted for one year of the work experience specified above.The Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services, its officers and employees, does not discriminate against any individuals, including but not limited to students, employees or applicants on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, creed, sex, gender (including gender identity and gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, age, citizenship status, marital status, partner status, genetic information, predisposing genetic characteristics, weight, military status or service, political affiliation, or domestic violence victim status.
