Position: Food Program Coordinator/Kitchen WorkerReports to: Supervisor of Instruction & OperationsJob Term: 10 Month September to June School Year & 6 Week Summer Program St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf in Brooklyn seeks a full-time Food Program Coordinator/Kitchen Worker. This hours for this position are Monday – Friday from 7am-2:30pm. The Food Program Coordinator/Kitchen Worker is responsible to ensure the school is following the New York State Education Department Child Nutrition requirements with regards to meals served, paperwork filed, facility/kitchen maintenance, etc.)GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESEnsuring that the students are served meals in compliance with requirements.Maintain kitchen/cafeteria in clean/orderly mannerAdministrative paperwork to record/report data to NYSED CN, place orders, etc. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONSHS Diploma or GED plus 3 years of relevant experience in school nutrition programs.NYC Certificate of Food ProtectionKnowledge of Sign Language or willingness to learnComputer skills (internet, Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, etc.)PERSONAL QUALITIESCapacity to manage multiple responsibilities and competing demandsDemonstrated ability to work in a calm and respectful mannerCommitment to fostering a collaborative, professional, and respectful work environment COMPENSATIONSt. Francis offers a competitive salary commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience. The ten month gross salary range for this position is $44,000 - $65,000 per year depending on certification and experience.ABOUT THE SCHOOLFounded in 1960, St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf (SFDS) is a privately owned, state supported school for Deaf students from birth through 8th grade located in the Prospect Heights section of Brooklyn. SFDS offers a Parent Infant Program (Ages 0-3), an Early Childhood Program (Ages 3-5) and a School Age Program (Grades K-8). Students attending SFDS are Deaf, Deafblind, Functionally Deaf and Deaf with Additional/Multiple Disabilities including Deaf with Autism and Deaf with Intellectual Disabilities.
