School Business Administrator Duties and Responsibilities Qualifications: Civil Service Requirements for School Business Administrator or New York State Certification as a SDBL Position: Under the general Supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, to manage the business functions of the district including budget and finance, purchasing, human resources, employee benefits, transportation, food service, facilities, safety and risk management, and related areas. Responsibilities include: Leading and managing the finances of the school district Supervises day-to-day operations of the school district’s business office Acts as a liaison between the district and central business office for payroll, accounts payable, treasury, tax collection, and accounting Assists the Superintendent and Board of Education in developing and updating policies for all aspects of the school business operation Reports to the Board of Education on a monthly basis on financial matters Supervision of the Food Services Program Supervision of the Facilities Department Supervision of the Transportation Department Coordinates and oversees all aspects of Human Resources and Employee Benefits Leading the annual budget development process and form the budget document, budget presentations, and budget newsletters Administers all phases of the budget throughout the year Supervises preparation and transmittal of financial reports for all funds to appropriate State and Federal agencies Coordinates all financial audits for the district and prepares corresponding corrective action plans for approval by the Board of Education and submission to proper local, state, and federal agencies Stays current on school law and fiscal matters Serves as a member of various district committees Evaluation of the performance of Senior Account Clerk, Food Service Director, Director of Facilities and Transportation Supervisor Performs such other duties as may be prescribed by law or assigned by the Superintendent or Board of Education Collaboration with Superintendent to oversee Capital Project planning and finances.
