The Spencer-Van Etten Central School District is hiring a full-time Teaching Assistant. This position, under the general supervision of the school principal, will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and district programs. Instructional services will be provided under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher who is responsible for the student’s instruction. This position is responsible for: • Working with individual pupils or groups of pupils on special instructional projects • Providing the teacher with information about pupils which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences • Assisting pupils in the use of available instructional resources, and assisting in the development of instructional materials • Utilizing their own special skills, and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar subjects • Assisting in related instructional work as required • Assisting students with specific health related activities as appropriateMust obtain a Level I TA certificate within 1 year of hire, and Level III TA certificate within 5 years of hire.Full benefits, including Flex Account, Health Insurance (or Buyout), Tuition Reimbursement for courses taken during employment, stipend for Bachelors degree, paid sick time.
