The High School Principal is entrusted with the responsibility of providing visionary leadership, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring the academic success and personal development of all students. This role requires a dynamic leader who can effectively collaborate with staff, engage parents and community stakeholders, and uphold the highest standards of educational excellence.Responsibilities:Leadership and Administration:Provide direction, support, and vision for the school in alignment with New York State Learning Standards, Multiple Pathways to Graduation, and the district’s Blueprint for Excellence Strategic Plan goals.Oversee the daily operations of the high school, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.Foster a culture of continuous improvement through effective professional development, mentorship, and coaching for staff.Implement and enforce school policies and procedures to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.Academic Excellence:Ensure the implementation of rigorous and coherent systems for curriculum, instruction, and assessments that align with New York State Learning Standards and promote student success.Monitor student progress and academic performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions.Support the integration of technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance student engagement and achievement.Collaborate with faculty and instructional leaders to develop and implement data-driven instructional strategies.Student Support and Development:Promote a positive school climate that celebrates individuality yet celebrates a sense of community.Implement programs and initiatives to support the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and support staff to provide comprehensive student services and intervention programs.Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities, clubs, and community service opportunities.Family and Community Engagement:Cultivate positive relationships with parents, caretakers, families, and community stakeholders through effective communication and outreach efforts.Facilitate opportunities for parental and community feedback related to educational initiatives.Collaborate with community organizations, businesses, and local government agencies to provide work-based learning opportunities for students and to enhance resources and support for students and families.Professional Development and Growth:Pursue ongoing professional learning opportunities to recognize and support best practices, research, and trends in education.Engage in self-reflection and seek feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve leadership effectiveness.Mentor and develop aspiring educational leaders within the school community.Qualifications:Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related fieldNew York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL) certification.Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years of administrative experience preferred.Deep understanding of New York State education laws, regulations, and standards.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.Commitment to equity and culturally responsive educational practices. *Salary - $90-105k or commensurate with experience.Join us in shaping the future for our students and empowering every student at Spencer-Van Etten to reach their full potential!The Spencer-Van Etten Central School District is a small rural school nestled in the Southern Tier of upstate New York and a member of the Greater Southern Tier (GST) BOCES.
