Responsibilities include: building extensive knowledge of the English Language Arts curriculum, working with students with a wide range of reading and writing levels, developing individualized support based on student need, collaborating with English Language Arts and Special Education teachers, assessing student growth and providing regular feedback to students, parents, guidance counselors, etc.Tutors work 4 days per week for a total of 19 hours weekly and can substitute teach on their day off.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:New York State certification in English Language Arts 7-12 and/or Literacy 5-12.Applicants must be appropriately certified prior to the start of employment.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Prior experience working in a secondary school setting.Comprehensive understanding of the K-12 ELA Next Generation Standards.Prior experience implementing date informed, student centered learning.Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others.Demonstrated ability to use instructional technology in the classroom including experience working with Google Classroom and other Google platforms.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Bilingual communication skills are a plus.APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO HOLD A CURRENT TEACHING CERTIFICATIONTITLE: AIS TutorSALARY: As per STA Contract: $27,071.52LOCATION: NMSEFFECTIVE: 10/1/2025APPLICATION DEADLINE: 9/15/2025The location of the above noted vacancy is subject to change based on the needs of the district.Applications for the above position are to be made by submitting a cover letter including the posting number, two professional references and a resume on OLAS: http://olasjobs.org/smithtown-csd- Employment Jobs in NYS (OLAS) addressed to: Neil D.
