The successful candidate will assist students within the PAES (Practical Assessment Exploration System) lab that is attached to our Functional Academic Secondary Transition (FAST-Life Skills) program. The candidate will assist students in learning various vocational skills. The successful candidate will also support the students within the Special Education Department as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: NYS Certification as a teacher (Students with Disabilities/Special Education 7-12 preferred) or related certification as a School Social Worker, Counselor, Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist, etc.Applicants must be appropriately certified prior to the start of employment.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Previous classroom teaching experience preferred.Knowledge of and experience teaching within classrooms with students with disabilities.Experience with small group instruction.Curriculum development experience for support and enrichment services.Knowledge of Google Classroom and instructional technology.Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Bilingual communication skills.APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO HOLD A CURRENT TEACHING CERTIFICATIONTeacher Assistant positions are full-time and include benefits.
