POSITION: Instructional Coach (10-Month Position) Hours: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm Thursdays 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Follows 10 month educational calendar GENERAL DUTIES: Serve on the Emergency-Disaster Team.Serve on the CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) team.Assist Principal with development of teacher and student schedules.Assist Principal with the development of school wide duty schedules including Breakfast, Lunch and Recess.Assist Principal with the establishment of due dates for all required paperwork.Assist Principal with the development of a Budget proposal for curriculum needs.Be a visible presence throughout the day including breakfast, Lunch, Recess, Dismissal and office hours.Coordinate state and local level testing responsibilitiesAssist with Educational Evaluations (only when needed) CURRICULUM RELATED DUTIES 1 Support teachers with IEP updates, drafts, Teacher Reports2 Assist in the review of class profiles3 Assist in the review of monthly Unit Plans and Lesson Plan to ensure accountability to balanced literacy and State Standards and all school curricula initiatives (Content Areas, Art, PE/Health and Library).4 Assist in the review of report cards and progress notes5 Support peer coaching to foster professional development.6 Support/Lead mentor/mentee program7 Manage inventory for each curriculum and materials (Math, Social Studies, Science and other materials).8 Support teachers from each Literacy team (Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8 & Special Needs) to be the “gatekeeper” of Unit of Study to keep the most current version on the public drive.9 Manage the leveled book room.10 Keep inventory of all books for classroom libraries and guided reading collection.11 Keep inventory of all lending copies of materials for classroom including Fairview Learning books and cards. Visual Phonics binders, book and cards, Instrumental Enrichment (IE) teacher manuals, and Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA).12 Keep inventory of all consumable and non-consumable materials.13 Support the review and approval of information included in students’ confidential folders.14 Support the review and approval of students current level forms15 Support the review and approval of students writing scale forms and writing portfolios.16 Collect and monitor all student formative assessment data (DRA, Fairview, word work, etc.)17 Collect and share staff’s feedback on use of curricular materials and initiatives.18 Ability to apply knowledge of current literature, trends and developments in the field of education. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:1 New York State certification in Deaf Education or another content area; five years experience with Deaf students preferred.2 New York State certification in Administration (preferred)3 Knowledge of curriculum and instruction (Common Core State Standards, Individualized Educational Planning, NYS regulations, NYS Core Body of Knowledge, and Curriculum Development).4 SLPI rating score of advanced or above OR ASLPI rating score of level 4 or above or be willing to work towards this.5 Good computer and presentation skills.PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to establish collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents and outside consultants.Excellent command of written English (student reports reviews, unit plans and outreach correspondence).Ability to problem solve, multi –task in a flexible creative manner.Maintain a professional demeanor, be approachable. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS BEYOND PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION: 1.
