Southern Cayuga CSD has an anticipated opening for a full-time 1.0 tenure track Secondary English Teacher to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year. This tenure track position will focus on teaching English to grades 9 and 10. The overarching focus of the grades 9 and 10 English curriculum is giving students diverse and rich experiences with different types of literature in order to prepare them for the English 11 Regents the following year. Students will learn to write about texts in formats which help prepare them for the English 11 Regents. All texts and writing pieces are focused on helping students meet priority standards for Common Core English. Start Date: September 5, 2023General Requirements: The successful candidate should have:NYS English 7-12 CertificationKnowledge of current NYS ELA standards, ability to prioritize standards, collect data on priority standards, and use the data to respond to student needs. Effective communication skills to engage students, parents, colleagues, and the school community as a wholeAbility to use technology effectively including Google Classroom and the Google Suite. Ability to design engaging curriculum and lessons.Desire to contribute to the larger school community through coaching and/or club advising
