The District is seeking an elementary reading specialist for a probationary tenure track position within our elementary school. This individual would primarily provide AIS reading instruction to students in grades K-5 who qualify for support. In addition, these teachers would work as a team to help create and maintain entrance/exit criteria, and assessments, track data, and develop curriculum and instructional programs to meet the needs of the students. A qualified candidate is expected to hold and maintain New York State certification in Early Childhood Education Birth-Grade 2 or Early Childhood Education Grades 1-6. The ideal candidate would have a reading background, a concentration in reading, or an additional reading certification.Applicants should have prior teaching experience and strong working knowledge of the Next Generation Learning Standards. Applicants should be able to establish positive relationships with colleagues, students and families, observe and evaluate students' performance, differentiate instruction and utilize technology to maximize student learning. A qualified candidate is expected to hold and maintain appropriate certifications.Knowledge of subject area.Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design and presentation.Understanding of differences in ability and differences in learning styles.Skill in conveying information effectively to different ability levels and learning styles.Skill in developing or selecting and using instructional methods and materials.Ability to use logic and reasoning to appropriately handle problems that arise.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to students, parents, and staff members.Ability to effectively manage the classroom.Ability to maintain a positive attitude and calm manner.Ability to remain flexible with changes in routine or plans.Please provide a letter of interest, current resume, copy of certifications, and at least 3 professional references via OLAS.
