The Transportation Supervisor Position is a Civil Service Competitive Position with the Scotia-Glenville School District. Interested applicants: must be in a NYS public school position or be on the NYS Civil service certification list for Transportation Supervisor. Hours: Regular hours 6:00am-2:30 pm, with add’l time as needed. Other Benefits: Health & Dental insurance plans, leave time, and vacation time Responsibilities: The work is performed under the general supervision of the School Business Administrator; must demonstrate and exercise independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Supervision over the operations and personnel involved in the transportation department; Directs, assigns, trains and evaluates the work of transportation personnel; Creates and maintains records and reports relative to operations and the programs supervised; Ensures that inspections and reports are completed for federal, state and local regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with codes, rules and regulations; Oversees compliance with all road tests, training and safety programs for school bus drivers; Develops procedures to ensure the preventive maintenance program is carried out; Arranges for all special trips including athletic teams; Performs road checks during winter months and advises proper officials regarding conditions; Oversees and approves purchases of transportation supplies and materials; Works cooperatively with automotive repair personnel in making arrangements for bus maintenance Does related work as required. Civil Service Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment; OR Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and fiv years of experience in the operation of multi-passenger vehicles or the dispatching of motor equipment; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) Above. NOTE: If the position involves the operation of a school bus, then the following special requirement Special Requirement: Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license and certificates appropriate to the vehicles, equipment and/or machinery operated at time of appointment or during the course of employment consistent with the needs of the school district. CDL required. NOTE: Verifiable part-time experience may be prorated toward meeting full-time experience requirements. Special Requirements for Appointments in School Districts: In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check.
