The Scarsdale Public Schools are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented individual who exhibits a love of learning and a genuine interest in the social, emotional, mental, and physical health of student-athletes. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching student-athletes in the sport of softball with demonstrated success in player development. The ability to design experiences for players to interpret the game and to respond effectively is essential. A successful candidate will lead and collaborate with other coaches within the program. Working knowledge of an educational interscholastic program is preferred. Prior successful experience coaching at the varsity level is preferred, but not required. NYS certification in physical education or a coaching license is required. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and conduct daily practices emphasizing fundamental skills, game strategies, and safe play.Teach rules, techniques, and strategies appropriate for JV-level athletes.Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment aligned with school and athletic department values.Model and reinforce sportsmanship, accountability, and academic responsibility.Communicate clearly and professionally with athletes, families, varsity staff, and the athletic department.Collaborate with the varsity head coach to ensure continuity of program philosophy and player development.Manage game-day preparation, including lineups, strategy, and supervision of athletes during contests and travel.Monitor athlete safety at all times and report injuries or concerns to the athletic trainer and athletic director.Maintain program equipment and ensure proper care and return of all school-issued gear.Uphold all school, league, and NYSPHSAA policies.
