Scarsdale High School is seeking talented, experienced, and innovative candidates for a leave replacement Physical Education Teacher from January 13, 2025 through June 27, 2025. The school spans grades 9-12, and offers a rich and varied educational program to the high-achieving student population of approximately 1500 students. The school community boasts an accomplished faculty and staff, along with an active, supportive parent body. We would encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet every one of our qualifications described.Essential Functions Plan, organize, and implement engaging physical education lessons that align with the state and district standards.Promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship through a variety of activities, including team sports, individual exercises, and wellness education.Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.Foster a safe and inclusive environment that encourages active participation and personal growth.Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school administrators to support student success.Manage and maintain gym equipment, fields, and other facilities.Uphold school policies and promote positive behaviors.Additional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. QualificationsBachelors' Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)Valid NY State Teacher Certification in Physical EducationPrevious teaching experience at the high school level.Strong knowledge of physical fitness principles, and injury prevention techniques.Excellent communication and classroom management skills.A passion for promoting physical health and wellness in adolescents.FLSA Status: Exempt
