Scarsdale Schools is seeking an experienced candidate for the position of Maintenance Mechanic - BuildingsSALARY: CSEA Salary ScheduleHOURS: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pmJob Description: Under general supervision, this positionPerforms routine electrical maintenance, repair and installation work, such as repairing and/or replacing electrical fixtures, installing simple electrical circuits. Replaces and/or rebuilds new stairways, repairs or replaces roofs on small structures, repairs or replaces stairs and porch steps, railings and flooring.Does miscellaneous carpentry repair work, such as replacing door hardware and closers, repairing/installing doors, trimwork, simple cabinet builds, and repairs.Repair/install new framing, sheetrock, and all associated work.Performs routine plumbing maintenance, repair, and installation work, such as repairing and/or replacing plumbing fixtures.Cleans stopped-up drains and does other emergency plumbing repair work.Assists in the maintenance of the District's heating plant and all associated work.Performs general repair work to floor and wall time of all types.Will take part in general small-scale new work along with the maintenance of existing work.This is a non-competitive class civil service position.MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in building and mechanical installation, maintenance or repair work required.SUBSTITUTIONS: An Associates' Degree in Applied Science or possession of a certificate from a postsecondary vocational school in building or mechanical trades may be substituted for two (2) years of work experience described above.Scarsdale Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
