Sayville Schools is seeking a dynamic, collaborative School Business Leader to begin duties on July 1, 2026: Qualifications: SBA / SDBL Certification with successful experience as a School Business Leader Proven ability to manage all aspects of school budget and finance with precision and integrity Knowledge and experience in the development of sustainable and environmentally sound building and maintenance procedures that promote the health and safety of students, staff and visitors Ability to lead the business office comprised of highly professional colleagues Proven ability to establish and foster relationships with local, state, and federal officials as well as NYS Education Department and other relevant agencies Knowledge and experience in the management and coordination of Special Education and grant funding including STAC and Medicaid systems Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship building skills Knowledge of the bond issuance process and experience with oversight of capital projects Performance Responsibilities: Organization and Leadership Prepares and presents the budget with supporting documentation for review by the Board of Education and Superintendent Chairs the Budget Advisory Committee Evaluates the District’s financial systems and prepares and implements appropriate controls Cooperates with the District auditors and New York State Department of Audit and Control to maintain accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and NYS regulations Prepares financial reports for the state and other governmental agencies Monitors and controls the District’s fixed assets Purchasing and Bidding Supervises all aspects of purchasing including the bidding process to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations Develops and implements procedures for purchase controls Prepares and reviews all contracts between the District and vendors Insurance Maintains information regarding insurance and employee benefit policies Examines potential changes with insurance, which could benefit the District Periodically reviews the District’s insurance coverage to ensure that the best coverage at the best price is provided Chairs the Employee Trust Fund Committee Supervision Purchasing Maintenance of financial accounts and various records related to the business management of the District; knowledge of nVision software preferred Business office personnel District Treasurer Payroll and Accounting Staff School Lunch Program / Food Service Director Maintenance Department Facilities and Operations Supervises Director of Facilities and Operations Develops priority lists of maintenance projects Cooperates with contractors to ensure proper completion of projects Reviews the District’s facilities and procedures for compliance with section 504 regulations Manages capital projects Develops and oversees construction bond projects Chairs the Districtwide Health & Safety Committee Transportation Department Reviews all transportation contracts and procedures to conform with state laws and regulations Oversee route development and implementation Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent Reports to: Superintendent of Schools Effective: July 1, 2026 Salary: Commensurate with Experience Application Process: We invite interested candidates to submit a cover letter and resume through OLAS- Online Application System http://www.olasjobs.org as soon as possible but no later than May 10, 2026.
