Position: Full-time Probationary Secondary School Social Worker (Grades 6–8)Location: Sayville Middle SchoolSalary: Per STA ContractQualifications: NYSED School Social Worker CertificationStart Date: September 1, 2026Sayville Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and skilled social worker to serve and support the academic, social, and emotional success of our middle school students. The building social worker will provide individual and group counseling, deliver targeted social-emotional supports, and collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to meet the needs of all learners. This role plays a key part in character education, helping students develop resilience, empathy, self-regulation, and positive decision-making skills. The ideal candidate will contribute to improving the overall culture and climate of the school by promoting inclusivity, fostering strong relationships, supporting positive behavior, and helping create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students. Key Responsibilities:Lead and coordinate strong mental health and wellness support for students in grades 6-8 which is directly aligned to our District Wellness Program, STRIDES and Sayville Middle Schools’ PATH.The ideal candidate will have experience working with a wide range of student behaviors and needs, using data-informed and trauma-responsive practices to support individual students and school teams.Candidates should have experience working with Students with Disabilities, serving on CSEs, case manager responsibilities, writing counseling goals, and monitoring progress.Collaborate with the Principal, teachers, staff, and parents to address student needs and promote a positive school environment.Lead the development and implementation of innovative workshops, programs, and initiatives that drive student success and well-being.Maintain accurate records and monitor practices with the goal of continuous improvement. Maintain involvement in relevant professional organizations and leverage best practices to lead and support student success.Application Process: Sayville Schools is anticipating a vacancy as noted above.
