Position Title: Permanent Substitute Instructional Per Diem Certified SubstituteSchool: Riccardi Elementary Effective: ASAPCompensation: $150/per day. This position is not aligned with the Saugerties Teachers Association Contract and there are no health benefits. Immediately Responsible to: Building Principal Minimum Qualifications:Required: Must possess a valid NYS Certification Philosophical compatibility with the stated mission and goals of the School DistrictPreferred: Experience Teaching ENL StudentsExperience Teaching Students with Disabilities Successful Teaching Experience Ability to speak a second languageSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Description:The permanent substitute will be guaranteed work on all instructional days during the academic year, including conference days. As an integral member of our team, permanent substitute teachers will fill both short-term and long-term assignments in one of our five buildings. In the event of a long-term substitute assignment, the permanent substitute may plan for instruction. Specific Responsibilities:Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning and supports District Goals.Delivers lesson plans developed by the classroom teacher.Maintains accurate records. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction.Supports students' social-emotional needs.Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.Performs such additional duties as may be assigned by Supervisors. Specific Responsibilities for Long-Term Assignments:Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with School District goals and objectives.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction as needed.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws as appropriate.Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees as appropriate.Performs such additional duties as may be assigned by Supervisors.
