Position: Social Studies Teacher (.4 Part Time)Building: Jr. / Sr. High SchoolEffective: September 25, 2024Position Title: Part Time (.4) Social Studies Teacher 7 - 12 Classification: Instructional - 10 monthsContract Aligned to: Saugerties Teachers’ AssociationImmediately Responsible to: Building Principal & Director of Curriculum and InstructionMinimum Qualifications:Required: Must possess a valid NYS Secondary Teaching Certificate in Social Studies Philosophical compatibility with the stated mission and goals of the School DistrictExpertise in the field of Social Studies Preferred: Dual CertifiedExperience Teaching ENL Students Successful Teaching Experience Experience analyzing data to improve student achievement Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Summary or Functions:Facilitating student success by developing students’ skills and competence in mathematical concepts and principles, including problem-solving and critical thinking. Specific Responsibilities:Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning and supports District Goals.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials in line with the NYS Social Studies K-12 Framework Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level/subject, and participates in faculty meetings, department meetings, and committees.Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs. Performs such additional duties as may be assigned by Supervisors.Evaluation: The evaluation of the person filling this position is conducted by a Certified Administrator according to the current Bargaining Agreement and APPR plan.
