Position Title : Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment - Internal Candidates Only (Submit a Letter of Interest due by 3/31/26) Classification : Administrative-12 months Other terms and conditions in the agreement between the Superintendent and Board of Education. Immediately Responsible to : Superintendent of Schools Minimum Qualifications : Required: Must possess a valid NYS School District Administrator certificate (SDA) or School District Leader certificate (SDL) Philosophical compatibility with the stated mission and goals of the School District Extensive knowledge of student - centered curriculum design, research - based instructional practices and strong leadership skills. Preferred: Broad, successful teaching and administrative experience. Experience analyzing data to improve student achievement through improved instruction. Three years of experience as a full-time Administrator, Supervisor, or serving in a leadership capacity. Outstanding communication, problem-solving, human relations skills, decision-making capabilities. Such alternatives to the above as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education. Supervises/Oversees : Building Leaders Curriculum and Instruction Department Chairs Lead Teachers Instructional Coach(es) Assessments Job Summary or Functions: Generally responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating the K-12 curriculum. He or she is responsible for the improvement of instruction, and both short and long-range planning for continued student academic success and articulation of instruction and student service programs throughout the District. Provide leadership and professional learning for the District’s Blue Print for Excellence, 5 year strategic plan. Oversee instructional coaches, lead teachers, and department chairs. Coordinates the development and implementation of grants and other funding related to curriculum and instruction. Responsible for evaluating administrators and teachers. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Developing, coordinating, promoting and evaluating the educational program in accordance with Federal, State and local statutes and Board of Education policies in all areas of curriculum and instruction, including technology. Provide leadership, support and technical assistance to district and building administration and staff relative to assessment, curriculum, instructional methodology, and the integration of technology. Establish an appropriate framework for curriculum documents, procedures and criteria for the evaluation of curriculum, and a schedule for curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation. Coordinate and supervise curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation activities within the established schedule. Oversee the PLAN Pilot and NY Inspires Initiative. Align the District’s K-12 literacy programs and instruction to the Science of Reading. Supervise instructional coach(es.) Oversees and works with Supervisors and Building Principals on the improvement of individual staff competencies. Maintain a district schedule for grade level articulation meetings, program assessment, curriculum development, and professional development activities to guide staff and avoid conflicts with other initiatives. Coordinates the selection of textbooks, instructional materials, and educational software, equipment, and media resources; directs publication and maintenance of curriculum guides and materials for use in the instructional program; and maintains District-wide curriculum materials. Visits school sites and classrooms to provide instructional support to teachers using best-practice and research-based instructional methods and assists principals and teachers in data-driven decision making to improve student achievement. Coordinates and supervises the delivery of educational technology to District students and teachers. Submits/oversees grant applications (including ESSA), program plans, corrective action plans, and staff performance reports on time and in accordance with statute, regulation and board policy. Prepares and administers the curriculum development, and instructional budgets and assists in the development and coordination of other sections of the budget that pertain to curriculum and instruction. Authorizes expenditure requests from the approved budget. Supervising mandated non-public school instructional materials. Approves in-service, CTLE and conferences for all staff. Develop and implement a professional development plan to provide appropriate orientation, preservice training, in-service training, and other professional growth opportunities for staff. Evaluate administration and staff as assigned by the Superintendent. Assist in coordinating the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Academic Intervention Services (AIS) plan and program. Monitors implementation of District and state-mandated testing and assessments to measure student performance. Analyzes data on student testing and assessment. reviews, modifies, and initiates District strategic educational initiatives, curriculum, and instruction for continuous improvement of student achievement and growth. Manages parent and/or guardian concerns regarding education testing, assessment, and other issues. Collecting, analyzing, and distributing data and reports regarding grading, report cards, retention, promotions, standardized test results, awards, and the initiation or closure of an educational program. Uses this information to create short and long-range educational plans and to report accomplishments to parents, the school community, and the general public. Assists in the screening, interviewing, selection, interviewing, selection, and assignment of professional and support personnel. Copyright Officer. Oversee State Assessments. EVALUATION: The Evaluation of the person filling this position is conducted by the Superintendent of Schools (or designee) and is based upon observations, conferences and reports received from Administrators of each school served.
