Nature of Work:Under the direction of the principal, serves as an educational leader and assists the principal in the planning, coordination, and directing of activities and programs related to the administration of the school.Essential Functions:Works as an active member of the administrative team to implement the district-wide goals, curriculum goals and common core standards. Makes recommendations concerning the school’s administration and program of instruction.Develops and administers school programs consistent with school district goals and mission.Develops programs to meet our students' social emotional needs.Collaborates with staff and administration to assist truant students.Relates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective discipline policy.Works with instructional staff to understand and utilize data to improve instruction.Enforces school district policies, state laws and State Education Department guidelines.Conducts and/or coordinates meetings and supervises other functions in the coordination of staff personnel. Participation in student support team meetings and Grand Rounds.Receives and reviews complaints or problems concerning individual pupils, staff, or the operation of the school.Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.Supervises extracurricular events such as concerts, awards assemblies, open house, parent teacher conferences, drama productions, dances, sporting events, etc.Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Facilitates meetings with various stakeholders including parents.Performs such additional duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.Evaluation: The evaluation of the person filling this position is conducted by a certified administrator according to the current Bargaining Agreement.
