Rye City School District 2024 - 2025Rye Middle School Choral and General Music Teacher1.0 Probationary PositionJob Description:The Rye City School District, a NAMM Best Community for Music, is seeking a dynamic and talented music teacher with a Valid NY State Certification in Music (K-12) for a full-time probationary position at Rye Middle School. The ideal candidate will teach chorus for grades 6-8 and contribute to our "Music Lab" (general music) classes for students in grades 7 and 8. Additionally, the candidate may occasionally assist with instrumental lessons as needed.Key Responsibilities:Teach and foster a comprehensive choral program for grades 6-8 that aligns with the New York State Core Arts Standards, promoting musical growth, creativity, and a love for singing.Conduct engaging rehearsals and performances for middle school choral ensembles at various skill levels.Organize and oversee middle school choral performances throughout the school year.Teach our "Music Lab" (general music) classes for grades 7 and 8, introducing students to music technology, composition, and production using Soundtrap and Flat software.Assist with instrumental lessons as needed, supporting the growth and development of young musicians in our program.Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, motivated, and inspired to develop a love of music.QualificationsEssential:Extensive knowledge of vocal pedagogy and the ability to nurture and develop young voices effectivelyStrong piano skills and accompanying experienceExcellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skillsA genuine love for music, singing, and making music with children at the middle school levelPreferred:Experience with music technology and digital music software, specifically Soundtrap and FlatExperience teaching or assisting with instrumental lessonsTo apply, please submit a letter of interest, resume, certification(s), and transcript(s) through the OLAS application system.The Rye City School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in its faculty and staff.
