School Psychologist Secondary LevelEssential Attributes:Proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and partner with students & parents in the learning process to support the social emotional needs of students.Evaluates individual child's learning styles and challenges based on cognitive, linguistic, perceptual, social and/or emotional skills. Evaluation materials and techniques are variable, and selected by the psychologist to fit specific children.Provides counseling for groups and individuals. A variety of support and counseling groups are provided throughout the school year for children experiencing a range of social and/or emotional challenges.Consults with classroom teachers, support staff and parents in order to make recommendations for modifying the classroom environment to meet the needs of individual children, or the class as a whole, to help support the social/emotional needs. Keeps abreast of research pertaining to child development, neuropsychological issues, new tests and measurements, etc. and shares information with staff and parents.Coordinates Child Study Team referrals and case study presentations.Administers tests and other evaluative instruments within the school building.Participates as a member of the Committee on Special Education and/or 504 Committee as a school psychologist or chairperson. Participates in annual reviews and re-evaluations of classified children and makes visits to out of district programs.Participates in faculty and community programs.Develops curriculum, particularly related to areas of mental health.Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Special Education Supervisor or the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.Certification: New York State School Psychologist certification required.This position includes a highly competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, and extensive opportunities for professional learning, continued growth, and mentored support.The Rye City School District is an equal opportunity employer.
