The Rome City School District is seeking three dynamic, highly skilled Instructional Coaches to support school improvement efforts in identified TSI/ATSI schools through the Title I 1003 District Systems School Improvement Grant. Each coach will be assigned to one building (Strough, Denti, or Stokes) and will play a critical role in strengthening instructional practice, supporting teacher development, and aligning school-level work with district-wide systems for continuous improvement. This role is embedded within a NYSED-supported initiative designed to bridge system-level improvement strategies with high-quality classroom instruction. The Instructional Coach will work as part of a cohesive school-based and district team focused on implementing rigorous, standards-aligned teaching and learning practices. Qualified candidates must have prior experience in an instructional coaching role, a record of proven success in teaching, and exceptional skills in student engagement and instructional delivery. A valid NYS teaching certification is required, along with a strong commitment to mentoring and supporting student growth and development. TSI/ATSI Instructional Coach Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2026 Positions Available: 3 (One per building: Strough, Denti, Stokes) Key Responsibilities: Provide job-embedded coaching to teachers focused on high-quality, cognitively demanding, standards-aligned instruction. Model effective instructional strategies and facilitate reflective practice. Collaborate with principals, principal supervisors, and teacher teams to support instructional improvement. Support the implementation of research-based instructional practices aligned with school improvement goals. Use data to inform coaching cycles, monitor progress, and adjust supports. Facilitate professional learning opportunities for staff, including grade-level or departmental teams. Ensure alignment between district priorities and classroom-level instruction. Participate actively in all NYSED-required professional learning and convenings. Required Commitments of the Position: Participation in all components of the NYSED program is required, including: NYSED Kickoff Event (Albany, in-person) : Full team attendance required. Mid- and End-of-Semester Check-ins : Held virtually or at regional locations (attendance required). Second Semester NYSED Convenings : Includes a second kickoff event (anticipated in-person) and additional mid/end-of-semester sessions. Participation in building SCEP Team Meetings. Program Structure & Collaboration Expectations: Instructional Coaches will be part of a structured district/school team that includes: 1 Principal Supervisor 1–2 Building Principals Instructional Coach(es) (assigned within the same school) A team of teachers (grade-level or department-based) Within this model: Teachers will engage directly in learning and applying instructional practices. Coaches will support implementation through coaching cycles and embedded support. School and district leaders will ensure alignment, remove barriers, and sustain systems-level improvement. All work is grounded in real classroom practice and focused on measurable student outcomes. Qualifications: Valid NYS teaching certification and experience in instructional coaching is required. Demonstrated expertise in instructional best practices and curriculum implementation. Strong understanding of data-driven instruction and continuous improvement processes. Experience working in diverse school settings and supporting a range of learners. Excellent communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills. Compensation & Terms: The position is grant-funded through the Title I 1003 District Systems School Improvement Grant. Continued employment contingent upon grant funding and program requirements. Internal candidate will need to request a one-year leave of absence from your current position.
