The Rome City School District is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Pre-K through 12 to lead and oversee the Special Education Summer Program. This program will run from July 6, 2026 through August 14, 2026, at both Denti Elementary School and Strough Middle School, operating from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Monday - Friday. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality educational experiences for students with special needs, while also managing staff, resources, and programming to support student success. Key Responsibilities: Conduct screening, hiring, and assignment of summer program special education staff. Assign classroom makeup based on student needs. Coordinate, plan, and implement academic activities with fidelity for all children in the special education program. Plan appropriate academic and daily living skills experiences to meet student needs. Develop and maintain a master schedule for the summer program. Coordinate transportation needs across three sites to ensure smooth operation. Work closely with the teacher coordinator to build programmatic needs. Supervise the maintenance of accurate records and data on academic progress and attendance of students. Conduct staff meetings as necessary to support the effective functioning of the summer program. Maintain high standards for students while implementing positive behavioral supports. Assess all summer program activities and provide recommendations for the improvements of future summer programming. Qualifications: Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) preferred Special Education experience required Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Experience in program development and staff supervision Knowledge of curriculum planning and special education best practices Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and community partners Why Join Us?
