Position Title: Leave Replacement General Education 5th & 6th Grade Co-Teacher (ELA and Social Studies)Position Type: Full-Time, Leave ReplacementLocation: Remsenburg-Speonk UFSDStart Date: On or about 2/24/2025End Date: 5/5/2025Position Overview: Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School is seeking a qualified and dedicated Leave Replacement General Education Co-Teacher for 5th & 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively in an inclusive classroom setting, providing engaging instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.Key Responsibilities:Co-teach 5th & 6th-grade ELA and Social Studies classes in collaboration with the special education teacher to deliver high-quality instruction in an integrated setting.Develop lesson plans that are aligned with New York State Standards and district curriculum.Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all learners.Collaborate with colleagues, including special education teachers, to assess and monitor student progress.Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success.Utilize data to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions as needed.Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and parent/guardian communication.Qualifications:Required: New York State Certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) or equivalent.Preferred: Previous experience as a co-teacher or experience in an integrated co-teaching (ICT) setting.Experience teaching ELA and Social Studies at the middle school level is highly desirable.Strong understanding of differentiated instruction Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skillsPreferred Experience and Skills:Experience implementing literacy-based instructional strategies in ELA.Knowledge of historical inquiry and student-centered learning for Social Studies.Familiarity with formative and summative assessment practices.Proficiency with educational technology tools, including Google Classroom and other online platforms.Experience supporting students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in inclusive settings.Application Process: Interested candidates should submit the following materials through the OLAS platform:Cover letterResumeCopy of NYS Certification(s)Three professional referencesRemsenburg-Speonk School District is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
