Elementary School Music Teacher/DirectorRemsenburg-Speonk School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher/Director to join our team. RSUFSD is a K-6 school district, on the east end of Long Island, with one building. This position includes the following responsibilities:General music class instruction for K-6Instrumental lessons, individually and in small groupsRequired Ensembles: chorus, beginner band, concert band Preferred Ensembles: Marimbas, World DrummingCoordination and facilitation of all whole school assemblies, programs, eventsFestivals: SCMEA, HMEA, NYSSMAThe ideal candidate will possess a deep love for music and a strong commitment to fostering creativity and musicality in young children. This role offers the opportunity to inspire and educate children through engaging musical opportunities, experiences and lessons.Responsibilities:Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with state standards and educational goals.Teach music theory, history, vocal techniques, and instrumental skills to elementary school students.Plan and lead engaging music lessons that cater to diverse learning styles, needs and abilities.Organize and conduct rehearsals for school concerts, preparing students for performances and competitions, and finding opportunities outside of the school to grow musically.Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music into other curricular, promoting interdisciplinary learning opportunities.Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, for all students including special education classes, where students feel encouraged to explore and express themselves musically.Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.Coordinate musical events and performances, such as concerts, recitals, festivals, community gatherings, and talent shows, involving students, parents, and the community.Stay informed about current trends and best practices in music education, continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth.Maintain a safe and organized music classroom, ensuring that instruments and equipment are properly cared for and maintained.Qualifications:Valid teaching license/certification in music educationProficiency in playing and teaching a variety of musical instrumentsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parentsEnthusiasm for working with children and a passion for music educationCommitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and school communityInterested applicants should submit a resume and job specific cover letter to Denise Sullivan, Superintendent of Schools, 11 Mill Road, Remsenburg, NY 11946 Via OLAS
