The Red Hook Central School District is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Technology. This position will be included in the Red Hook Administrator Association. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing various aspects of technology including networking, infrastructure, hardware, and software to ensure that technology is used to leverage the work of all schools and departments across the school district. The Director of Technology should be exceptionally prepared to take strategic and forward-thinking approaches to build on the previous work of the department and further enhance learning opportunities and supports for all students aligned to the district’s strategic plan. Salary will be based on experience with a cap of $150,000.Requirements:Key Responsibilities:- Effectively plan, implement, and sustain all tasks related to technical systems, network infrastructure, and asset management.- Manage the establishment and maintenance of systems and tools for gathering, mining, integrating, and reporting data in usable and meaningful ways to use for the purpose of improvement efforts.- Develop, organize, and supervise the implementation of the NYSED-required District Technology Plan.- Develop and implement District technology plans, including technology replacement and long-term strategies.- Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Assistant to the Superintendent for Personnel & Operations, Business Official, and the directors of Pupil Personnel Services, Athletics, Facilities, Transportation and Food Services.- Oversee the planning and organization of professional development on computer hardware, software, and instructional technologies.- Ensure the district complies with Education Law 2-d and other data privacy requirements.- Ensure the district website is ADA-compliant and up to date with critical information for parents and the community.- Manage cybersecurity efforts, including the implementation of firewalls and protection against data breaches.- Supervise the installation and implementation of new technology systems.- Supervise and evaluate Information Technology staff.- Lead the evaluation and modification of existing technology initiatives, plans, and policies.- Evaluate educational software and ensure regular updates and maintenance of district hardware and software.- Stay informed about current educational technology trends and best practices.- Communicate technology direction and updates to stakeholders, including staff, students, and parents.- Liaise between the DC BOCES, MHRIC, third party vendors, and other consultants.- Advise Senior Management on all matters related to instructional technology and data management.- All other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Highlights:- Technology Budget Management: Oversee technology expenditures, ensuring compliance with district and state regulations, including E-rate and other funding programs.- Resource Allocation: Evaluate requisitions and allocate funds for hardware, software, and other technology-related resources.- Staffing: Manage the technology department to provide leadership to IT staff, building-level technology assistant coaches, building-level technology teacher aides, and contracted BOCES service providers.- Equipment Procurement: Oversee the purchase and distribution of device and digital tools for instructional and administrative purposes.- Cybersecurity Investments: Allocate budget for cybersecurity tools, including firewalls and other data protection measures.Skills:- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and external partners.- Demonstrate ethical and moral leadership.- Proficient in the use of various educational technology tools and platforms.- Ability to develop long-term strategic goals and implement data-driven improvements.- Leadership skills that foster collaboration, innovation, and ethical decision-making.- Self-motivator and strong initiative to identify and address projects, barriers, and opportunities.- Holds high and clear expectations for students, staff, and self.- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Experience:- Proven experience in educational technology leadership and data coordination.- Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical abilities.- Demonstrated ability to lead technology initiatives and foster collaboration.- Knowledge of NYSED reporting requirements and data privacy regulations (Ed Law 2-d).- Ability to evaluate and integrate technology to enhance instructional practices.NYS SDA or SDL Certification is required at time of application.We are an equal opportunity employer and employment is decided based on qualifications, merit and need.
