The Red Hook Central School District seeks an innovative Library and Media Specialist for the Linden Avenue Middle School, grades 6-8, with a start date of September 1, 2025. The ideal candidate will understand both the technical aspects of library media services and recognize the important role they play in creating an engaging learning environment that inspires students to become enthusiastic readers, critical thinkers, and skilled researchers. This position requires a passionate educator who can transform our library into a dynamic hub for collaboration, innovation, and information literacy. We are seeking a library media specialist to advance that commitment while developing our library space to serve the heart of our school community.Essential Responsibilities:Develop and implement a comprehensive library program that supports curriculum across all grade levels and subjectsCollaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship into classroom instructionDesign and deliver engaging lessons that build students' research, technology, and media literacy skillsCreate and manage innovative programs that foster a love of reading and literature appreciation for students of all agesCurate a diverse, inclusive, and current collection of print and digital resources that reflect our school community and curriculum needsManage library operations including circulation systems, budget planning, resource acquisition, and inventory maintenanceEstablish the library as a flexible learning space that accommodates diverse teaching and learning stylesProvide instructional coaching and professional development for faculty on information resources, research methodologies, and educational technology integrationServe as the building expert on research practices, citation formats, digital literacy, and ethical use of informationPartner with students, families, and community members to extend learning beyond the school dayQualifications:Valid New York State Library Media Specialist CertificationDemonstrated experience in library management and information literacy instructionStrong knowledge of current educational technology and digital resourcesExperience designing student-centered curriculum and assessmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsCommitment to inclusive practices and meeting diverse learning needsAbility to adapt to changing technologies and educational practices Applicants must upload the following: Cover letter, resume, 3 letters of recommendation, copy of certification(s), and copy of college transcript(s).
