Position Summary: Rensselaer City School District Project AWARE program is seeking a compassionate, student-centered School Social Worker or School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral well-being of students. The role focuses on direct school-based services, collaboration with staff and families, and promoting a positive, trauma-informed school climate. Experience providing Medicaid-billable services is preferred.Key Responsibilities: Provide individual and small-group counseling to support social-emotional and behavioral needs. Conduct assessments and help develop individualized student support or intervention plans. Deliver evidence-based prevention education in classrooms. Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) support in collaboration with teachers and school staff. Assist with crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including pupil personnel staff, teachers, administrators, and families. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with district standards. If applicable, provide services that may be Medicaid-billable under New York State–approved programs.
