POSITION: Guidance CounselorTERMS: 1.0 FTE Probationary PositionSTART DATE: September 5, 2023PRIMARY FUNCTION - JOB OBJECTIVE:To assist each student to achieve his/her potential.To assist each student to overcome problems that impede his/her learning and to assist students in making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for personal fulfillment as mature and responsible citizens.To assist each student to make optimum personal, occupational and educational choices.To address and correct student absence, and tardiness at the Junior/Senior High School.To deal with the problem of students who do not complete tasks assigned, and do not participate in class.To assist each student to become aware of his/her strengths and limitations as they relate to life goals and personal satisfaction.BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS:A valid New York State Certificate to serve as a Guidance Counselor.A master's degree, or its equivalent, representing intensive course work in counseling; educational guidance; psychology of learning and testing and measurement.A minimum of 2 years of experience in a high school setting with a Master Scheduling background.Experience with student data programs.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
