Senior Network Engineer – Competitive. This position has the responsibility for administering and participating in the operations and maintenance of computer networks. The work involves analyzing hardware and software network problems, researching new products and coordinating workshops. The incumbent may be assigned to work with Local Area Networks, District Area Networks, District Area Networks or Wide Area Networks. Work is performed under the general direction of the Appointing Authority or their designee with wide leeway allowed for planning and carrying out the details of the work. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate technical staff. Does related work as required. Candidate must be highly motivated and work as a team player. Candidate will be hired as a provisional appointment and must take and be reachable on a Civil Service eligible list. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIOS: EitherA. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered College or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer technology, data procession, management information systems, information resource management, or related field and three years of experience involving the installation of micro-computer hardware and software and configuration and administration of local and wide area networks; orB. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college with an associate degree in computer science, computer technology, data processing, management information systems, information resource management or related filed and five years of experience as defined in A) above ; orC. Completion of an industry certified network training program and five years of the experience as defined in A) above; orD. Seven years of full-time experience or its part-time equivalent as defined in A) above; orE. Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A), B), C) and D) above.Special requirement: Possession of a valid New York State Driver’s License or otherwise demonstrated ability to meet transportation needs to perform field work responsibilities in the ordinary course of business; ANDlT professional certification requirements in at least one of the following:Cisco Certified – Network Associate (CCNA )VMware - (VCTA, etc).Certified lnformation – System Engineer (MCSE)Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE)Google Workspace/Education Administration
