Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Middle School is looking for a dynamic special education teacher to serve our middle school students. Certification in Students with Disabilities Gr. 7-12 is required and dual certification with Gr. 1-6 is preferred. Candidates should possess strong skills in the areas of student management, engaging struggling learners, the creation of individualized education plans, and progress monitoring. Co-teaching as well as consultant teaching backgrounds are also preferred but not required. Candidate will be expected to: Assess students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s abilities Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals Discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators Complete other duties that support student success
