Starting immediately, Questar III BOCES announces a full-time (1.0) teaching position for their New Visions Pathways in Education located at the University of Albany campus in Albany, NY. This program is a challenging half day course open to high school seniors interested in pursuing careers in various education and teaching fields. Classes run daily from 7:45-11:30 a.m. (afternoon is dedicated to prep work, scheduling, and communications) and follows a traditional 10-month school schedule. The teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous course work and facilitating opportunities for students to engage in practical simulations, hands-on experiences, and connections with our partners through University of Albany. The teacher will have their own classroom at University of Albany College and be part of the New York State Teacher’s retirement system.Pathways in Education is an exciting program focused on preparing students for a career in the field of education. This half-day program for seniors will be located at the University at Albany’s uptown campus. Students will have the opportunity to complete college courses each semester. These courses are directly applicable to a variety of educational careers. Along with the college coursework, this program will have class time to cover additional educational topics and will incorporate hands-on experiences including observations, shadowing, and internship experiences with a variety of inspiring professionals in the field of education.Students will be supported along the way to help them successfully make the transition from high school to college level work. This program will prepare students with the content knowledge and experience to continue their coursework towards a career in education. Student will also have mastery of the content needed to obtain a New York State Level 1 Teaching Assistant certification for immediate employment.Qualifications: Must have a master’s degree in a related field of study and have certification in English or Social Studies 7-12. Candidates must also be willing to pursue CTE certification in the area of “Teacher Education and Training.” Candidate must be comfortable with driving to and from school districts throughout the year to supervise the student's experiences.Salary Range: $50,212 - $69,507 (depending on experience) Interested applicants should email resume with cover letter to employment@questar.org.
