School Bus Monitor (Anticipated Vacancy - 6 hours daily) February/March 2026 Responsibilities: The Putnam Valley Central School District has an anticipated vacancy for a school bus monitor effective February/March 2026. The duties include assisting student passengers entering/exiting the school bus; seat placement as needed; operating lift and restraint devices; operating wheelchair locks to load and unload student passengers with disabilities as needed; assisting bus or van drivers in the event of emergencies; and other duties as required. Good powers of observation; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; and working knowledge of first aid methods helpful. Qualifications : Must be able to pass the Physical Performance Test (PPT); and meet minimum age requirement of 19 years at time of appointment per New York State Civil Service guidelines. A high school diploma is desirable. Experience working with students with disabilities is also desirable. Bilingual a plus. Salary : The hourly salary per the CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement is: Minimum $17.53/hour, Midpoint $24.11/hour, Maximum $31.86/hour. Anticipated shift hours are 6:30 - 9:30 AM and 1:00 - 4:00 PM. (Schedule to be determined.)
