Along with other building administrators, this position is responsible for the day-to-day safety of both students and staff, ensuring an effective educational environment. The position provides leadership in all areas of instruction. The position is responsible for the administration and implementation of the school's special education program, promotes the overall efficiency of the school, and maximizes the educational opportunities to the students. Requirements:Education/Experience:Master's degree or equivalent; and five years teaching experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Certificates and Licenses:NYS Certification in Special Education or related discipline and NYS Certification in School Administration are required. NYS Certification in School Administration may be met with a valid certificate in School Administration and Supervision (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA), School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL).Essential Functions:Works collaboratively with other district administrators to establish programs and services throughout the school.Provides oversight of the special educational program and confers with classroom teachers, related service providers, and students' parents/guardians, Supports teachers in developing and modifying curriculum and using assessment data to inform practice.Provides leadership in the development of the school's special education program based on effective student learning practices in compliance with SED and Federal compliance status.Provides information related to NYS and Federal Special Education Regulations.Along with other administrators conducts formal and informal observations and evaluations.When required, participates in CSE meetings, at times as CSE chairperson.Participates in grant writing.Assists in developing professional development training.Assists in developing the school budget.Monitors achievement of students.Performs other duties as requested by the Superintendent of Schools.Please include resume and cover letter with application materials.
