ENGLISH TEACHER –PROBATIONARY 2026-2027 The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District’s English Department is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students while fostering a positive and culturally responsive learning environment. Location: POBJFK High School Responsibilities: - Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the New York State Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards that cater to diverse learning styles. - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and cultural awareness. - Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and to share best practices. - Utilize high leverage instructional strategies to support a lifelong appreciation for reading and writing. - Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleagues. Key Qualifications: - Motivated and passionate about teaching English Language Arts. - Strong background in literature and the writing process. - Collaborative mindset, eager to work in a team-oriented environment. - Culturally responsive approach to teaching including valuing and incorporating diverse backgrounds. - Strong grasp of using technology to enhance teaching and learning, including the use of Artificial Intelligence. - Candidates with a knowledge of middle school philosophy and experience teaching grades seven and eight are preferred but not required. - Develops and implements differentiated instructional strategies to accommodate varying student learning styles, abilities and needs. - Training in social-emotional learning and building relationships. - Uses evidence-based instructional methods to support Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions within the MTSS framework. - ESOL and Special Education certification with experience co-teaching are considered a plus. - Strong organizational and communication skills.
