ANTICIPATED OPENING FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR Secondary Music Teacher – High School and Middle School, Probationary, Tenure Track Position The Plainview-Old Bethpage Department of Music & Performing Arts seeks a highly dedicated and collaborative individual to join the music staff for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will provide an opportunity to engage students through their music classes, specifically the band program, and foster a positive environment while maintaining a culturally responsive disposition. Responsibilities: - Ability to conduct ensembles and teach instrumental lessons - General Music and/or Studio Music for Grades 5 through 8 - Knowledge of Music Theory - Marching Band Experience Preferred, but not required - Working directly with the Director of Music & Performing Arts for initiatives and attending required meetings. - Working with building administration. - Preparing Students for NYSSMA - Excellent Multi-Instrumental Skills. - Major instrument NYSSMA Level 6/All-State or Higher. - Secondary instruments, NYSSMA Level 2 of Higher. - Knowledge of Secondary Band Literature. - Knowledge of Integrated Music Technology (Flat.io, Sight Reading Factory, SoundTrap) - Create lessons aligned with the New York State Standards for the Arts revolving around Performing, Creating, Responding, and Analyzing. - Create a positive and engaging, and culturally responsive classroom. Requirements: - Must have a current and active NYS Department of Education Certificate in Music K-12. - Excellent communication and organizational skills. Locations: - Plainview-Old Bethpage-John F. Kennedy High School - Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School & H.B. Mattlin Middle School (Tentatively) Effective Date: August 31, 2026 Salary: As Per Contract Deadline: April 10, 2026
