ANTICIPATED OPENING 2025-2026Secondary English Language Arts Teacher (Leave Replacement)December 2025 until end of May 2026.Job Description: The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic NYS certified secondary education English Language Arts Teacher for a short-term leave replacement. The is a split position located at POB Middle School (.7)/POB JFK High School (.3) and is an excellent opportunity for educators passionate about teaching English Language Arts.Responsibilities: - Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the New York State Next Generation Language Arts Learning Standards that cater to diverse learning styles- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation & cultural awareness- Utilize high leverage instructional strategies to support a lifelong appreciation for reading & writing- Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleaguesKey Qualifications: - Motivated and passionate about teaching English Language Arts- Strong background in literature and the writing process- Strong grasp of using technology to enhance teaching and learning, including the use of Artificial Intelligence- Strong organizational and communication skills- ENL and Reading certified candidates are considered a plusRequirements: - Must have a current and active NYS Department of Education certification as a secondary English Language Arts TeacherLocation: POB Middle School/POB JFK High SchoolSalary: As per contractDeadline: Friday, October 17, 2025
