ANTICIPATED OPENING 2025-2026Speech Teacher-Elementary Level-Leave Replacement (August 27, 2025-Janurary 9, 2026)The Plainview-Old Bethpage CSD is seeking a dedicated and experienced Elementary Leave Replacement Speech Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with students who have a range of speech and language difficulties, including those on the autism spectrum. This role requires expertise in diagnostics, participation in the Committee on Special Education (CSE), and proficiency in various delivery models such as consultant, push-in, and pull-out services.Key Responsibilities: Assessments & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments to identify students’ needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs).Therapy & Intervention: Provide individualized and group therapy sessions to address speech and language difficulties, tailoring interventions to each student’s specific needs.Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure a cohesive approach to student development. Participate actively in CSE meetings and contribute to the development of IEPs.Delivery Models: Implement speech and language services through various models, including:. Consultant Model: Provide expert advice & strategies to teachers and parents to support students within the classroom environment. Push-In Model: Deliver speech and language therapy within the general education classroom, collaborating with teachers to support students in their natural learning environment.. Pull-Out Model: Conduct individual or small group sessions outside the classroom to focus intensively on specific speech and language goals.Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, session notes, and other relevant documentation. Prepare reports for CSE meetings and parent conferences.Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research and best practices in speech-language pathology and special education. Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.Skills:. Strong diagnostic assessment skills.. Experience with IEP development and participation in CSE meetings..
