ANTICIPATED OPENING: BIOLOGY/CHEMISTRY TEACHER (PROBATIONARY) 2025-2026The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District’s Science Department is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our team. As a key member of our educational community the music staff for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will provide an opportunity to inspire and engage students in biology and chemistry while fostering a positive and culturally responsive environment.Responsibilities: - Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS) that cater to diverse learning styles.- Design and facilitate inquiry-based learning experiences that engage students in scientific practices & cross-cutting concepts.- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and cultural awareness.- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and to share best practices.- Utilize high leverage instructional strategies to support scientific literacy and critical thinking.- Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleagues.- Implement laboratory safety protocols and manage laboratory materials effectively. Key Qualifications: - Motivated & passionate about teaching Biology and Chemistry.- Strong working knowledge of the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS) and three dimensional learning.- Experience integrating science and engineering practices, disciplinary core ideas, and crosscutting concepts.- Exceptional ability to work collaboratively with department members and interdisciplinary teams.- Strong commitment to professional learning communities and collaborative curriculum development.- Culturally responsive approach to teaching including valuing and incorporating diverse backgrounds.- Strong grasp of using technology to enhance teaching and learning, including the use of Artificial Intelligence.- Develops and implements differentiated instructional strategies to accommodate varying student learning styles, abilities and needs.- Training in social-emotional learning and building relationships.- Uses evidence-based instructional methods to support Tier 1, Tier 2, & Tier 3 interventions within the MTSS framework.- ESOL and Special Education certification with experience co-teaching are considered a plus.- Strong organizational and communication skills.- Experience developing and implementing lab-based curriculum.Requirements: - Valid New York State teaching certification in both Chemistry and Biology 7-12 is required. - Dual certification is mandatory for this position.Effective Date: August 27, 2025Salary: As Per ContractDeadline: Tuesday, May 20, 2025Cover letteres must be to the attention of Mr. Christopher Donarummo, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources & Safety.
