ANTICIPATED OPENING 2024-2025SCHOOL COUNSELOR - FULL TIMEThe Plainview-Old Bethpage CSD Guidance Department is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will have to opportunity to inspire and engage students while fostering a positive and culturally responsive learning environment. Responsibilities: - Identify, assess and advise and counsel students, grades K-4 regarding academic, social and emotional issues- Build rapport and collaborate with students, parents, faculty and administrative team- Provide expertise in the area of child development- Provide both individual and group counseling to students- Conducting classroom lessons on topics such as empathy, conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and emotional regulation- Implement and maintain communication with students, parents, faculty and administration regarding student needs and progress- Participate as a member of the building MTSS Committee- Communicate, coordinate and collaborate with behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing student supports- Facilitating crisis intervention and providing support during times of emotional distress or trauma- Support and attend relevant student activities and eventsKey Qualifications: - Experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational or counseling setting- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues- Knowledgeable, motivated and passionate about the developmental stages and best practices in counseling techniques for elementary-aged children- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team- Strong communication skills, both oral and writing- Collaborative mindset, eager to work in a team-environment- Strong grasp of technology- Culturally responsive approach to working with students with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing educational goals- A strong belief that all children can succeed- Strong organizational skillsLocation: Stratford Road Elementary School/Pasadena Elementary SchoolRequirements: Must have a current and active New York State School Counselor CertificationDemonstrated experience at the elementary level
