ANTICIPATED OPENING-2023-2024Library Media Specialist – Leave Replacement – Elementary Level (Starting March 2024)The Plainview-Old Bethpage Library Media Services Department is seeking a leave replacement teacher who is motivated and innovative in the design and implementation of an elementary school program. As a member of a highly collaborative team, this individual will have the opportunity to share and expand their knowledge of working with a diverse group of elementary age (K-4) learners and current library practices.Responsibilities: Develop and implement elementary school library lessons that align with AASL and ISTE Standards.Develop engaging lessons for students in topics such as coding, digital and information literacy, and research. Develop a program which fosters a lifelong love and appreciation for reading.Manage the library’s collection of print resources.Curate and promote high quality digital resources.Utilize a variety of digital platforms for instruction, presentation and communication.Collaboration with building staff and district librarians.Participation in PLC’s and professional development opportunities to gain knowledge of relevant current school library issues and practices.Motivated and passionate about working with K-4 children.Interested in creating an inviting learning space for students.Eager to collaborate with staff and librarians to meet all student needs.Experience with kidOYO coding platform preferred, not required.Organized and capable of handling a variety of tasks essential for maintaining the school Library.Location: Stratford Road Elementary SchoolCertification: Must have a current & active NYS DOE Certificate as a School Library Media Specialist
