Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a full-time vacancy for a Supervisor of Special Education. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an exceptional school administrator. The Supervisor of Special Education will serve students ages 5-22 with significant medical, developmental and/or speech/language challenges. Students in the program are NYSAA assessed. The supervisor will work with a team of highly qualified student-centered special educators, related service providers, clinicians, paraprofessionals, and administrators.Qualifications:The successful candidate will have:• Extensive knowledge of special education;• Proven ability as a leader with knowledge of effective instructional practices for students with disabilities;• Skill as an innovative planner, motivator and effective communicator who has a proven record of developing positive relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, students and parents;• Expertise in staff supervision and evaluation with knowledge of the APPR process;• A degree in special education or related field as well as New York State administrative certification (SAS, SDA, SBL, SDL)Characteristics Desired:Previous experience as an administrator of programs for students with disabilities desired. Candidate must be highly organized and have effective communication skills. Additionally, must also have a commitment to the PNW BOCES mission of service and innovation through partnership.
