Duties: Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a vacancy for a Safety Coordinator within the Regional Safety Services department. Reporting to the Director of Regional Safety Services, this position will provide BOCES with expertise and technical assistance with safety concerns or hazards, and recommend specific safety programs to reduce accidents. Duties may include, but are not limited to:Assisting schools in planning, drills, and exercises;Plan and facilitate the Regional Safety Committee, Regional School Nurses Committee, and various safety seminars;Participate in Regional Crisis TEAM and BOCES Health & Safety Committee;Maintain all records for “Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act” and “Right to Know” hazard plans;Represent BOCES during County EOC drills/meetings;Act as liaison between federal, state and local agencies regarding health and safety, and emergency planning;Other duties as assigned. Incumbent of this position will be subject to a future civil service examination.Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: (a) eight (8) years of work experience involving the administration or development of health and safety programs, and/or emergency planning, and/or crisis response; or (b) eight (8) years of work experience as a uniformed officer in a public law enforcement or military agency.SUBSTITUTION 1: A Bachelor’s Degree* may be substituted for four (4) years of work experience as described in either (a) or (b) above.SUBSTITUTION 2: A Master’s Degree* or a Bachelor’s Degree* in Criminal Justice, an environmental, physical or biological science, Education, Psychology, Social Work or Nursing may be substituted for five (5) years of work experience as described in either (a) or (b) aboveMust qualify through civil service: - click this link: https://humanresources.westchestergov.com/images/stories/jobspecslocal/d/directorofsecurity1cadacompliant.pdfCharacteristics Desired: Must be organized and have ability to work in multiple teams.
