Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES is anticipating the need for a full-time dually certified ELA & Social Studies Special Education Teacher for the 2024-2025 School Year. Candidate will be responsible for developing and providing ELA and Social Studies instruction to special education students in a secondary classroom with a Regents-based curriculum. Duties will also include developing and implementing IEPs, monitoring and assessing student progress, differentiating instruction per student needs, and working in a collaborative team setting. The successful candidate will also maintain regular contact with local school district representative and parents, perform educational assessments as requested, and utilize data to inform instruction.Qualifications: Must hold valid New York State certification in 7-12 content areas English Language Arts and Social Studies as well as have the Students with Disabilities extension.Characteristics Desired: Ability to supervise classroom team. Experience working with students with multiple disabilities. Experience working collaboratively with therapists and clinicians. Knowledge of the annual review process. Candidates must be organized, flexible, and have effective written communication and problem-solving skills. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
