Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates the need for a Messenger to assist within the Science 21 program. This position will perform messenger duties and routine clerical functions for the Science 21 program shipping department, which include but are not limited to:Prepare Science 21 kits for shipping and delivery to subscribing districtsTag and seal outgoing Science 21 kits;Deliver kits and science components to school districts and to/from sources or anywhere on the BOCES campuses using a van;Support shipping efforts through computer entry and data entry;Log and sort incoming/outgoing science kits via UPS as directed, which may include scanning kit materials and/or completed kits into electronic document form for automated distribution;Keep simple records as required of items “received” and/or delivered;Duplicate documents for the Science 21 kits and for “received” kit materials;“Receive” and/or move supplies, equipment, and furniture;Unload and stock shelves with science kit supplies and components;Other duties as assigned.Qualifications: Good knowledge of safety standards in operating a light truck and forklift and familiarity with Westchester and Putnam County roadways. Ability to lift 45 lbs. repetitively, understand and follow verbal and written instructions, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the position's essential duties. Minimum acceptable training and experience: (a) high school or equivalency diploma, and (b) a clean, valid New York State driver's license. Must be physically able to perform all job duties.
