Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a vacancy for an experienced Teaching Assistant for the Walden Library. This position includes developing and implementing weekly lessons using books/multimedia that are differentiated to meet the needs of a wide range of special education students; managing the selection, inventory, and circulation of library/media materials; coordinate with teachers and other professionals to connect content across the curriculum, facilitate Makerspace activities for students, designate classroom jobs for students, etc.; monitor use of testing equipment and technology; organize and run an annual Scholastic book fair; and additional supports for students and staff as assigned by an administrator.This appointment will include a 4-year probationary period and lead to a possible recommendation for Tenure.Qualifications: Certification as a Teaching Assistant or Teacher (Special Education preferred) required.Characteristics Desired: Must be able to form positive relationships with students. Experience teaching students with various disabilities, especially those transitioning to adult services, preferred. Experience with job readiness preparation preferred. Must be highly organized, dedicated, and able to work independently and in multiple teams. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
