Department Name: Curriculum & Instructional Services (shared with Special Education)Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Bilingual (Spanish) Full-TimeDuties:Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates the need for Bilingual Teaching Assistants to work closely with elementary classroom teachers and teams to immerse students in the Spanish language. Teaching Assistants in this role would also support classroom teachers in the instruction and management of students with disabilities. Candidates must be able to work with students of all ability levels and support students whether the teacher is present or absent.Qualifications:Candidates must possess a valid New York State Teaching Assistant certificate and be fluent in Spanish, both in written and oral form. Prior instructional experience supporting Spanish language learning is preferred, as is special education teacher certification.Characteristics Desired:Candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude, with an ability to integrate Spanish language instruction into existing curriculum.
